Established in 1997, O Cocas has grown from a single Portuguese restaurant into a brand with two locations in Lisbon.
Our menus bring together Portuguese classics, seafood, traditional tapas and main courses, served in a relaxed and welcoming setting. The aim has remained simple: good Portuguese food, generous dishes and attentive service.
Alongside traditional recipes, O Cocas also develops its own house specialities. Tridente do Mar, created by our chef, combines codfish, octopus and shrimp in a special house sauce with a touch of whisky.
Today, O Cocas and O Cocas II share the same name, standards and approach, continuing the story that began in 1997.
Tridente do Mar began in our kitchen when our chef, with more than 17 years of experience in Portuguese cuisine, set out to create a dish unique to O Cocas. Inspired by Portugal's strong connection to the sea, he brought together three ingredients closely linked to our cooking: shrimp, octopus and codfish.
He then developed a secret house sauce using flavours familiar to Portuguese cuisine, finishing it with a touch of whisky to give the dish greater depth and character.
The name reflects both the ingredients and the chef's own story. The trident connects two cultures that are meaningful to him: Shiva's trident in Hindu tradition and Poseidon's trident in Greek mythology. Do Mar, meaning “of the sea,” represents the three elements from the sea at the heart of the dish.
After four months of testing and consistently positive feedback from our guests, Tridente do Mar became the signature dish of O Cocas.
